Russia's federal statistics service, Rosstat, said on November 5 that access to its website had been restored following a cyberattack that affected its online resources from October 29 to November 1. Interfax reported the announcement, citing the agency.
Users experienced disrupted access to Rosstat's online services during the attack. The agency confirmed that it had been targeted but said it had found no indication that protected databases were compromised. Claims by hackers that they had stolen information have not been independently substantiated.
Technical disruptions led to an extension of some statistical reporting deadlines to November 13.
