The SOVA Research Center recorded 39 court rulings concerning 52 people in October 2026 in cases involving alleged ties to extremist or terrorist groups and organisations.
The centre judged 18 of those rulings, affecting 23 people, to be clearly unlawful or grossly disproportionate. Among them were convictions of at least 11 people for donations to the Anti-Corruption Foundation and four Jehovah's Witnesses for continuing their religious communities' activities. This is the centre's human rights assessment.
Separately, SOVA counted 44 convictions in October cases involving public statements. Researchers assessed six rulings affecting seven people as wholly or partly unlawful. These figures concern a separate category of cases and should not be combined with the rulings on group membership.
