Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky District Court sentenced Zhanna Nemtsova in absentia on November 5 to four years in prison in a case concerning the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom.
The court also reportedly banned Nemtsova from administering online resources for eight years. Russian authorities previously designated the foundation an “undesirable organization,” and the prosecution of its co-founder concerned legislation governing such groups.
Nemtsova was sentenced in her absence. On July 31, a court had already ordered her detention in absentia as a pretrial measure, and the Moscow City Court upheld that decision in September.
