The Petrogradsky District Court in St Petersburg sentenced drummer Andrei Panin to five years and six months in a general-regime penal colony for spreading "false information" about the Russian military out of political hatred, under Article 207.3, Part 2(d), of the Russian Criminal Code. The case concerned his post about people, including children, killed in a strike on Chernihiv in August 2023.
The prosecutor sought a six-year sentence. In his final statement, Panin expressed remorse and asked for leniency, citing his elderly mother and young daughter, who he said depended on him.
He published the VKontakte post on August 19, 2023. Panin was detained on July 20, 2026, and subsequently placed in pretrial detention.
